BIOGRAPHY

Davis began swimming competitively for Pilot Aquatic Club in Knoxville, Tenn., when he was 11 years old. He quickly became one of the top junior swimmers on the team and worked his way onto the national scene competing at meets such as the Southeastern Long-Course meet, the Southeastern AAU Championships, Junior Nationals, and Pan Ams. He even set state high school records in the 200 & 500 Freestyles and the 100 Fly.

When Davis' senior year rolled around, he had the tough decision of choosing a school to attend that was competitive in both swimming and academics. He had offers from Auburn, Texas, Stanford, Tennessee, and Michigan. Michigan was the right fit.

While swimming for the Wolverines Davis, who swam mostly distance freestyle events, began to train for the butterfly events. Although it was a major change, it proved to work to both his and the Wolverines' advantage. In 2005 Davis won his first individual national championship in the 200 Fly.

Other recognition garnered during his current career at Michigan include multiple first team all-conference (Big Ten) honors, University of Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement, Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors, amongst his various national and international achievements.

Davis came within a hair of making the 2004 US Olympic Team, but that only fueled his desire to compete internationally. In 2005 he placed 1st at the US World Championship Trials, securing his spot on the World Championships roster. He finished 4th (while coming in ranked 19th), just off the medals podium.

With the 2005-06 NCAA season on the horizon, Davis sees even more room for improvement for the future while keeping his eye on his goal to make the 2008 Olympic Team. Good luck, Davis!
